Support In Our Schools
Delivering a Catholic Education
As an employer, Townsville Catholic Education has more than 2,400 full time and casual staff throughout the Diocese, making the organisation a significant contributor to the regional economy.
To deliver a Catholic education to a system of schools, the Catholic Education Office works with three service teams. Each team services a group of schools. Each team is led by an education consultant and supported by advisers in curriculum, religious education, Indigenous education, early years’ education, ICT, counselling, speech pathology and finance.
The organisation’s administration, library and resources, employment services, school building services and marketing teams support schools across the board. The Townsville Catholic Education Office is located in Kirwan, next to the Ryan Catholic College junior campus. The office houses more than 140 employees and is the base for most school training in-services.
A further group of staff members (guidance counsellors, speech pathologists and visiting advisory specialists) are based at St Joseph’s Catholic School, Mundingburra. Information Communication Technology (ICT) technicians are also located at schools throughout the Diocese, forming a part of the overall ICT team. The organisation also operates the Gumburu Environmental Education Centre in Paluma, with a small team of staff.
